- The
Monadelphous ILC will be housed in the MPSL building and will open in
March 2010.
- It
will be a unique student-owned, student-run workshop and design studio.
- It
will simulate a professional workplace in which students may pursue
advanced projects in collaboration with industry.
- The
MILC will have two levels: a Prototype & Testing Centre (workshop) on
the ground floor and a Project Management Centre (design studio) on the
first floor.
- Both
floors will support student team work by providing flexible partitions, storage
and moveable furniture.
Prototype & Testing Centre (ground floor)
- The
ground floor will be a workshop with light prototyping facilities: drill
presses, CNC mill and lathe, grinding, woodwork, metal folding, welding,
hand tools and so on. Every bench will have generous storage space and
lockers built in. A duty supervisor will supervise student use of tools
during scheduled hours.

|
The Prototype & Testing Centre will be a place where
students can build prototypes to their own designs - a critical activity in
developing professional design skill.
